Funding Description
The Clothworkers’ Foundation aims to improve the lives of individuals and communities, particularly those facing disadvantage and marginalisation, through grant-making. Annually, the foundation awards over £7 million in capital grants to UK-registered charities and not-for-profit organisations. These grants focus on ten priority areas, including communities experiencing racial inequalities, disabilities, domestic and sexual abuse, economic disadvantage, homelessness, LGBT+ communities, older people facing disadvantage, prison and rehabilitation, substance misuse and addiction, and young people facing disadvantage. Through this funding, the foundation supports initiatives that address these critical issues and promote social equity.
Eligibility Information
Grants are available to UK registered charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs), and other registered not-for-profit organisations, including special schools. These grants are specifically aimed at capital projects, which include the purchase, construction, renovation, or refurbishment of buildings. The funding also covers fittings, fixtures, and equipment, such as office furniture, sports and gym equipment, digital tools, software, websites, garden equipment, and specialist therapeutic equipment (excluding medical). However, the grants do not cover equipment for one-off use or items given to service users for permanent personal use. Additionally, the fund can support the purchase of vehicles, such as minibuses, cars, and boats, although it is unlikely to fund the full cost of a new vehicle or support organisations with a large fleet. Grants do not extend to vehicle leasing or organisations focused solely on community transport.
